Soft Launch Framework
Legal, Privacy, And Community Rules
NJFRESH is designed around privacy-first accounts, pseudonymous discussion, source-link aggregation, moderated Community Seeds, and preserved Archive Evidence. These policies explain the practical limits and responsibilities clearly.
Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 1 2026
NJFRESH is built as a privacy-first news and discussion system. We try to collect as little personal information as possible while still supporting accounts, comments, votes, submissions, and site security.
1. What NJFRESH Collects
NJFRESH may collect and store:
- Account number created or entered by the user
- Optional email recovery lookup data if you choose email recovery, stored for account access and not public display
- Passphrase-derived authentication data, not the plain passphrase
- Session cookie or session token used to keep you signed in
- Display name, if you choose one
- Comments and replies you post in the Forum
- Votes on storylines, comments, or other site features
- Community submissions you send for review
- Saved stories, homepage branch preferences, and member activity used to power your account
- Basic technical logs, such as request time, route requested, IP address, user agent, and error information, if generated by the server or hosting provider
- Archive and metadata records related to external news links, such as URL, headline, source, timestamp, snippet, archive lookup status, and history of sightings
2. What NJFRESH Does Not Require
NJFRESH does not require you to provide an email address, legal name, phone number, mailing address, social media account, government ID, or payment information. Email recovery is optional.
If you voluntarily include personal information in a display name, comment, submission, or profile field, that information may be stored and may be visible depending on where you post it.
3. How Accounts Work
NJFRESH accounts are based on an account number and passphrase. You may optionally configure email recovery for sign-in lookup.
Your account number or configured email can be used for sign-in lookup. Your passphrase is used to authenticate you. NJFRESH does not store your plain passphrase. Email recovery is optional and is not shown publicly.
4. Pseudonymous Forum Identities
Forum identities are pseudonymous.
If you choose a safe display name, NJFRESH may show that name with your comments. If no safe display name exists, NJFRESH may show a generated name such as Fresh Member ###.
NJFRESH does not intentionally show your account number, raw account ID, session token, or backend identity token in public Forum areas.
NJFRESH is designed to minimize identity exposure. It does not guarantee anonymity. Server operators may still be able to correlate activity through backend records, timestamps, sessions, IP logs, moderation records, or database access. NJFRESH is designed to reduce public exposure, not to guarantee anonymity from operators, hosting providers, legal process, or technical investigation.
5. Activity Stored by NJFRESH
NJFRESH may store Forum comments and replies, comment scores, votes, flags, moderation status, storyline votes and saved items, Community submissions and review decisions, recent member activity, homepage branch preferences, Archive metadata, and source-link history.
This data is used to operate the site, prevent abuse, support moderation, improve story grouping, and maintain Archive Evidence.
6. How NJFRESH Uses Data
NJFRESH uses stored data to let members sign in, keep sessions active, display comments and preferences, group coverage into storylines, moderate unsafe content, preserve metadata, and diagnose reliability or security issues.
NJFRESH does not currently sell personal information. NJFRESH does not currently use behavioral advertising.
7. Logs and IP Addresses
NJFRESH aims for minimal tracking. However, the server, hosting provider, or security tools may process logs that include IP address, browser information, request path, timestamps, and error details.
These logs may be used to debug problems, prevent abuse, investigate spam, protect the service, or comply with legal obligations.
8. Cookies and Sessions
NJFRESH uses cookies or similar session mechanisms to keep members signed in. These cookies are used for authentication and site operation, not advertising.
You can clear cookies in your browser, but doing so may sign you out.
9. Data Retention
NJFRESH keeps account, comment, vote, submission, and archive metadata for as long as needed to operate the service, preserve discussion context, maintain Archive Evidence, prevent abuse, or support moderation.
Recent activity records may be kept for account features and may be shortened, expired, or deleted over time.
Community submissions that are rejected, hidden, or moderated may still be retained internally for review, abuse prevention, or audit purposes.
10. Public Content
Forum comments, approved submissions, display names, and other public-facing activity may be visible to other users. Do not post information you want to keep private.
11. Data Security
NJFRESH uses practical safeguards appropriate for a soft-launch system, including limiting required account data and avoiding public exposure of backend identity tokens. No system is perfectly secure.
12. External Links
NJFRESH links to external news sources and archive services. Those websites have their own privacy practices. NJFRESH is not responsible for how external sites collect, use, or store information.
13. Changes to This Policy
NJFRESH may update this Privacy Policy as the project changes. The effective date will be updated when material changes are made.

1. What NJFRESH Is
NJFRESH is a news aggregation, archive metadata, and discussion platform. It organizes source links into storylines, roots, and branches, and provides Forum and community submission features.
2. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use NJFRESH to harass, threaten, abuse others, post spam or malware, impersonate others, submit harmful content, bypass moderation or security controls, overload the service, post private information about others without permission, or coordinate harm, fraud, or unlawful activity.

You are responsible for the comments, replies, votes, and submissions you make.
Do not submit content you do not have the right to share. Do not post confidential, private, or sensitive information.

NJFRESH may reject, remove, edit labels for, or limit submissions for quality, safety, relevance, duplication, abuse prevention, or editorial reasons.
5. Moderation Rights
NJFRESH may remove, hide, reject, flag, limit, or down-rank content or accounts at any time, including for spam, abuse, legal risk, privacy concerns, off-topic material, or technical harm.
NJFRESH may remove content in response to legal requests, copyright claims, or safety concerns.
NJFRESH may suspend or disable accounts that violate these Terms or threaten the safety or reliability of the service.
6. No Guarantee of Accuracy
NJFRESH aggregates headlines, snippets, links, metadata, and source information from external sources. NJFRESH does not guarantee that aggregated content is complete, current, accurate, or error-free.
Storyline grouping, rankings, votes, Archive Evidence, and metadata may contain mistakes.
Use original sources and your own judgment before relying on information.
NJFRESH is not responsible for decisions made based on information found through the service.

NJFRESH links to third-party websites. NJFRESH does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content, availability, privacy practices, paywalls, corrections, or changes.
8. Archive Evidence
NJFRESH may preserve metadata and history about links, including titles, snippets, timestamps, source names, archive lookup status, and related source-link records. NJFRESH does not intend to host full copyrighted articles.
9. Accounts
Accounts are privacy-first and may use account numbers and passphrases. Optional email recovery can help with sign-in lookup, but you are still responsible for keeping your account number and passphrase safe.
10. Service Changes
NJFRESH is a soft-launch project. Features may change, break, pause, or be removed. Data structures, source availability, story grouping, moderation processes, and archive workflows may evolve.

12. Disclaimer
NJFRESH is provided "as is" and "as available." NJFRESH makes no promise that the service will always be available, accurate, secure, or uninterrupted.

Disclaimer
Content Disclaimer
NJFRESH aggregates links, headlines, snippets, source metadata, and archive-related history from external sources.
NJFRESH does not host full news articles. When available, NJFRESH links readers to the original source and may also provide archive lookup or metadata history.
Headlines, snippets, timestamps, source labels, and grouped storylines may be incomplete or incorrect. Readers should refer to the original source for the full article, corrections, updates, context, and publisher terms.
Archive Evidence is intended to preserve metadata and link history, not to replace original reporting.
Community
Community Submissions Disclaimer
Community submissions are reviewed before becoming part of NJFRESH.
Not all submissions are approved. NJFRESH may reject submissions that are duplicate, off-topic, low-quality, unsafe, spammy, misleading, privacy-invasive, legally risky, or outside the project's scope.
Approved community submissions may be labeled differently from system-ingested source links or editorially grouped coverage. Community submissions may be less reliable than multi-source storylines. Approval does not mean NJFRESH endorses the submission or verifies every claim in the linked content.
